Community Lutheran has a long, proud history of being a community church first and foremost. We welcome you to come worship with us and experience what our community of faith has to offer.
20 things to know about Community Lutheran Church:
We are friendly and welcoming to everyone.
There is no need to be Lutheran to attend; all faiths are welcome to worship with us. We were not always specifically a Lutheran church - check out our history.
Our Sunday Worship Service starts at 9:30 a.m.
Everyone gets lost in "the red book" (the hymnal) from time to time. Hint: the numbers on the wall at the front are a quick shortcut to finding the next hymn.
You can ask any of us questions. Feel a bit lost during the service? We all end up on the wrong page once in a while; just lean over and ask your neighbor for a pointer in the right direction.
Not everyone wears their "Sunday Best" to church each Sunday. It is not uncommon to see worshipers dressed casually, even in jeans and flip flops.
It is okay to sing off key; we are simply happy when people sing and we don't know every word either.
It is okay to not sing or say anything at all; silent reflection is always welcome too.
We love the joyful sound of children; we know they are not always quiet and that is part of the fun.
We offer a Prayground area stocked with activity bags and toys in the back of the sanctuary, have an interactive Children's Sermon as part of our regular worship, and offer an interactive Sunday School Program for toddlers through high school that begins right after Communion.
Many of our current parents were once the ones making the noise as kids; we have a place to "escape" to and let the kids run - the children's corner in the Fellowship Hall.
Parents do not have to miss out on the service if you need to step out for a moment; it is broadcast to the Children's Corner in the Fellowship as well.
Coffee Hour starts around 10:45 a.m. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
Lutherans make the best coffee (this might be an exaggeration - we also have a sense of humor).
Kids are welcome at Coffee Hour too. We have hot cocoa, juice and healthy snacks and treats for all.
We understand food allergies and specific diets and we do our best to honor them. Gluten free? Dairy free? Not a problem!
We encourage volunteering and actively participate in our community.
There is an activity for every interest group outside of our regular services. Love to craft, hike, travel, kayak, read, or quilt? Please check our Calendar for church activities or connect with church members for fun and fellowship outside of church.
Don't feel like you have to remember everyone's name the first time you meet them; if you do remember, we're going to be impressed, but we may still have to reintroduce ourselves next time.
Our Pastor is available as a resource to our community, especially in times of need.
